It seems we all know someone who is providing care to a family member. Many of us have done so in the past or are doing so now. The stories are often similar, but the experiences are unique and ever so personal. Being there twenty-four/seven and all which that entails is a grueling and debilitating labor of love. Most family caregivers survive with only a fragile support system to maintain their own health of body and spirit. If they are fortunate, they have another family member, neighbor or friend who helps, but little else. It can be a lonely vigil, especially if the loved one is suffering dementia and slowly forgetting who is there holding their hand. Skills4Care is committed to providing support, training, education and resources to these people.
